Welcome! We’re Dan and Britt Meythaler, and we are the faces behind Northern Route Creative. Our journey began right after high school when Britt moved to Des Moines for college and Dan quickly followed. Dan found himself at the Gannett Regional Toning Center, learning the ropes of image editing and discovering a passion that soon grew into Meythaler Photography in 2010. Weddings, senior sessions, and commercial photography filled our calendars for years.

In 2014, we started our family with our oldest, Cooper, and later had Grayson. We knew it was time to slow things down and set deeper roots. We sold our place in Des Moines, moved to Jefferson, Iowa, and opened a cozy storefront studio inside an old commercial storefront building. Fast forward to early 2024, we wanted to broaden our creativity even further, deciding to close Meythaler Photography and start anew as Northern Route Creative LLC, now offering professional video and drone services alongside photography.

We pride ourselves on creating comfortable, fun sessions with top quality for all our clients, from businesses needing fresh branding, seniors getting ready to graduate, or families who want to show you they are. No session is ever the same, and that’s just how we like it.


Fun fact? When we’re not behind the camera, you’ll usually find us traveling the country, cooking up meals together, gaming with lifelong friends, or carefully restoring our 100-year-old home and building, or you might just see us relaxing with our kids, dog, and bearded dragon watching a movie and eating pizza!
